THE FEAST — Encore Kit Prop & Setup Guide LIGHTING Candles only if possible, or the warmest, dimmest lamp you own. No overhead light. The letter's room is thick with trapped daytime heat and moonlight through open shutters — aim for warm, low, a little golden. MUSIC Nothing with a beat or a build. Ambient, unhurried — think night-insect drones, a slow acoustic instrumental playlist, or genuine white noise (a fan). The point is a soundscape with no urgency in it, so silence between sounds doesn't feel like it needs filling. SCENT Something warm and a little sweet: honey, beeswax candle, or a citrus/herb combination (thyme, salt, orange) if you have access to essential oils or a diffuser. Avoid anything sharp or clinical. WARDROBE Simple, easy to remove slowly — nothing with complicated fastenings that breaks the unhurried pace. Linen or cotton if you have it. Bare feet matter to this scene (see her_character.txt) — no socks. TEMPERATURE Warm the room slightly if you can — turn the heat up a couple degrees, or just let the scene happen under a blanket removed slowly. The letter's damp-linen, trapped-heat quality is part of the mood; air conditioning working against you undercuts it. PROP CHECKLIST - One or two pieces of ripe, soft fruit (peach, fig, or whatever's in season) — for the opening offering beat, opened by hand rather than cut - A small jar of honey with a dipper or spoon, warmed slightly (a few seconds in warm water, not hot) — for the sustained centerpiece - A soft towel or extra sheet nearby for cleanup — honey is messy, plan for it in advance so no one has to break the mood hunting for a towel - Candles or low lamp + lighter/matches - Ambient music or white-noise source cued up before you start - A washcloth warmed and left within reach for after PRE-SCENE SETUP (5 minutes) Set the table or bedside with the fruit already out. Warm the honey. Light candles. Start the ambient sound low. Put phones away entirely — this scene runs on nobody checking a clock or a notification.
